(LOOGOOTEE) - Two people landed in jail after Martin County Police found more than four grams of meth during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.
Martin County Sheriff's Deputy Tyler Reed was on patrol on US 50, east of Loogootee around 2:47 a.m. when he noticed a driver commit a moving violation. Deputy Reed stopped the vehicle near the White River Co-Op.
Loogootee Police Department Officer Jim Floyd and Indiana State Trooper Steve Nolan arrived to assist.
The vehicle was occupied by 29-year-old Victoria Mullens of Paoli and 25-year-old Oceana Shields of West Baden Springs.
Mullens was driving with a suspended driver's license.
Deputy Reed utilized his narcotics-certified K9 partner Virka for a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Virka gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Police searched the vehicle and found 4 grams of a white crystal substance that field tested positive of meth, three smoking devices containing residue that field tested positive for meth, and two scales containing residue that field tested positive for meth.
Mullens and Shields were arrested and transported to the Martin County Security Center.
Mullens is facing charges of maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction.
Shields is facing charges of visiting a common nuisance and possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
