(SPENCER CO.) - Spencer County officials have released the identities and cause of death of the two individuals that were found dead in an early morning fire on Thursday.
According to Spencer County Chief Deputy Coroner Matt Conen, 81-year-old Frederich W. Lorenz and his wife, 71-year-old Elizabeth L. Lorenz, both died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
The Chrisney Volunteer Fire Department was called to the fire involving a double-wide manufactured home on County Road 900N at about 5:02 a.m. Thursday. After knocking down the flames, firefighters located the bodies of Frederich and Elizabeth Lorenz. The bodies were found on opposite sides of the home.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal's office is involved in the investigation.
