(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University Police received a call at 4:42 p.m. on Sunday that a student was wanting to harm himself and another student and he was armed with a handgun.
IU Police Capt. Craig Munroe says after receiving credible information that the subject was on campus, police issued an an IU-Notify emergency alert to students and staff of the threat.
IU Police along with Bloomington Police officers were able take the individual into custody at his off campus residence without incident at 5:41 p.m.
The suspect claimed he does not own a firearm and police did not find a firearm in his possession.
Capt. Munroe says officers determined the male was going through a mental health crisis and assisted him in receiving with an immediate medical evaluation.
No criminal charges were filed.
