(OOLITIC) - A Bedford man suffered an arm injury in an accident on Hoosier Avenue in Oolitic on Friday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Sheriff's Department report, 21-year-old Taylor Gerkin of Bedford told police that he was traveling north on Hoosier Avenue and was behind a pickup truck that was possibly driven by an impaired driver that was weaving in and out of the lane of travel.
Gerkin told police the driver of that pick up slammed on the brakes and to avoid a collision, Gerkin swerved the 1999 Ford Ranger he was driving to the right to avoid colliding with the pick up truck.
When he swerved, the pick up he was driving collided with a parked 2006 Pontiac, owned by Sharlyn Redman, of Mitchell.
The impact pushed the Pontiac into a limestone retaining wall. The stones from that wall damaged a 2012 Chrysler, owned by Sean Brown, which was parked in the driveway at his home at 230 Hoosier Avenue.
Gerkin complained of pain to his lower left arm, but refused medical treatment at the scene. His father responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
