(BEDFORD) - The City of Bedford Clean Sweep is scheduled for April 16-23.
City crews will pick up extra household trash during that week. The trash needs to be set at the curbside away from normal trash items.
Residential items like old tires, appliances, construction materials and carpet which is normally not picked can be disposed of during Clean Sweep.
Once residents have their trash at the curb they need to call the Street Department at (812) 279-9222 to schedule a pickup.
The automated compost truck is now in service. Green toters will be picked up with an automated truck. This will improve the response time and allow for daily pickups on automated trash day. Toters must be at the street in order to be picked up.
Totes are available at the street department at a one-time cost of $26.
Grass, rose clippings, garden waste, small sticks, leaves, and plant clippings can go in toters. No bags of yard waste should be placed in toters.
Those wanting to help clean up areas in the city during Clean Sweep week are asked to called the Bedford Chamber of Commerce at (812) 275-4493.
The crews will continue to pick up leaves until April 13.
Residents are asked to rake leaves to within 3 feet of the curb and not in the street. Leaves clog storm drains if piled in the roadway. Please do not place leaf piles on water meter lids or too close to the trash toters.
Leaves can be placed in yard waste toters year around and residents do not have to call during the months of April - October.
The compost truck will be in your neighborhood on your automated trash day or you can call to schedule pickup.
Call (812) 279-9222 to schedule pickup.
