(BEDFORD) - A North Lawrence Career Center teacher has been suspended and computer drive secured to protect potential evidence in Indiana Department of Education investigation.
Jason Harding, a computer science teacher, received a three-day suspension for insubordination for removing a computer from the school office without permission and refusing to return that computer to school personnel, says Donna Petraits, executive director of the Indiana chapter of National School Public Relations Association.
On April 2 North Lawrence Career Center Director Glenn Weil and counselor Kim Magness were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into serious irregularities in vocational program reporting. The same day investigators removed hard drives from some career center computers.
Steve Fisher has been named interim director of the North Lawrence Career Center.
Investigators are not sure how long their investigation will take or how many years the department will go back in the extensive audit of all aspects of the North Lawrence Career Center program.
Petraits says it is important for the community to understand how serious the department is taking this investigation and will share information as much information within legal bounds.
A "Frequently Asked Questions" section will be posted soon at http://www.nlcs.k12.in.us/ under the "info" tab at the top of the page that will share information about the investigation.
