(SCOTTSBURG) - Monday, shortly after 6 p.m., a Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy was in his driveway located just off of U.S. 31 South of Scottsburg getting ready to begin his shift, when a motorcycle passed his residence going South at an extremely high rate of speed.
The deputy pulled out of his driveway and attempted to catch up to the motorcycle. As the motorcycle went into a curve approximately a quarter of a mile North of Edrington Road, it crossed the centerline striking a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the passenger side front.
The driver of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Dmytri Weddington of Scottsburg, was thrown from the 1997 Yamaha. He died at the scene.
The driver of the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 42-year-old David Cunningham, and his front seat passenger, 41-year-old Kristine Cunningham, suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Scott County Hospital by Scott County E.M.S.
