(SALEM) - A Salem resident was seriously injured in an accident early Thursday morning on Beeline Road, west of Rush Creek Road.
According to a Washington Sheriff's Department report officer were alerted to the crash just after 3 a.m.
According to police, a 2004 Crown Victoria driven by 34-year-old Jesse Simpson ran off the southside of Beeline Road, crashed into a utility pole, breaking the pole and brought the power lines to the ground causing a power outage throughout the northern part of Salem.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Simpson was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent-Salem Hospital and then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.
The Salem Fire Department and Washington County EMS assisted at the scene.
