(SWITZ CITY) - A Tornado Spotter’s course sponsored by Greene County Emergency Management Agency will
be conducted by the National Weather Service on Tuesday, April 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The Spotters Course is free and open to the public.
"This is tornado season and with the damages last week that could have been a tornado, this course is now extremely relevant," says Roger Axe, Director, Greene County Emergency Management Agency. "This is especially true in the light that some thought they spotted a tornado during the damaging storm that hit Jasonville and the surrounding area. Knowing what is and is not a tornado is vital for the residents of Greene County."
Additionally the recent storm and damage at Jasonville, underscores the need for a Reverse 911 System to be part of the Warning Notification Triad for Greene County. Reverse 911 is where the people in the county would be contacted via cell phone, e-mail, and telephone call in case there was a danger.
The Warning Notification Triad would consist of Warning Sirens, Weather Radios, and Reverse 911.
"Currently we are exploring funding options for Reverse 911," Axe added.
