(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested on Monday afternoon after the Lawrence County Drug Task Force conducted a controlled buy for marijuana.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, 22-year-old Thessaney Taylor contacted an undercover Indiana State Police Excise officer via social media and offered to sell him marijuana.
The officer met Taylor in the area of US 50 East and State Road 446.
"Once the controlled buy was complete, Taylor was stopped and arrested by officers without incident," Chief Deputy Shoults said. "As a result of the controlled buy, detectives obtained a search warrant for Taylor's residence at 184 Middle Leesville Road."
At the home, detectives found marijuana consisting of five different high-grade strains, almost 1,000 pieces of drug paraphernalia and a scale.
"A total of 226.33 grams (half pound) of marijuana was seized," Chief Deputy Shoults says. "Approximately 60 grams was seized from the controlled buy and the other 166.33 grams was seized from the residence."
Taylor is facing felony charges of dealing marijuana over 30 grams and maintaining a common nuisance and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Detectives are following up on another suspect related to this case and are seeking an arrest warrant for that person.
