(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge William Sleva sentenced a Bedford man to 10 years in prison on a meth charge on Thursday afternoon.
According to court records, 24-year-old Timothy Kern of Bedford was sentenced to 8 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections and two years on supervised probation. on a charge of possession of meth. He also was recommended to participate in a therapeutic community program.
Charges of dealing meth, a second charge of possession of meth, maintaining nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea in a negotiated plea deal.
Kern was arrested on July 12, 2017 at the Mark III Motel after Bedford Police received a tip of drug deals being made out of one of the motel rooms.
The Lawrence County Drug Task Force arrested Kern and 35-year-old Courtney Roberts after finding multiple baggies, smoking pipes and a digital scales that all were covered with meth residue. One baggie contained a crystal substance that tested positive for meth. They also found a safe, which contained more crystal meth, smoking devices and other miscellaneous items.
Roberts was sentenced in September to one year of probation after pleading guilty to a plea deal of possession of meth.
