(BEDFORD) - Captain Terry Moore has been appointed by Mayor Shawna Girgis as the new Bedford Police Chief.
Moore has more than 14 years of exemplary service with the City of Bedford Police Department and has the respect and confidence of the men and women he has served with throughout his tenure at the department.
"Terry is a highly respected officer both by his peers and our citizens," says Mayor Shawna Girgis. "Given his record of service and high level of commitment to the department and the community he will be a wonderful leader, as well as a mentor to the new officers that are joining the department. I also look forward to his leadership in the school resource officer program that was recently initiated with the North Lawrence Community School Corporation. With three children
of his own attending our schools he has a great understanding and passion for making this collaboration a success."
Moore will assume the role of chief beginning Saturday, May 19, as former Chief Dennis Parsley retires and begins his new role as TASC Director.
