(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Department is currently accepting applications for its 2018 Citizens’ Academy.
Designed to encourage civic involvement, Citizens' Academy provides participants with an interactive learning experience about municipal government services, programs and departmental responsibilities.
Now in its 19th year, Citizens' Academy meets every Thursday for nine weeks from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., starting on August 30. The program will be limited to a total of 30 participants to ensure a quality experience for all.
City residents who are interested in civic participation or increasing their knowledge about local government operations can apply online at the City of Bloomington's website at bloomington.in.gov/citizensacademy.
The deadline for 2018 Citizens' Academy applications is Monday, July 9.
"Citizens' Academy was such a wonderful and rewarding experience," said Amy M. Oakley, a graduate of the 2017 Citizens' Academy class. "I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to know more about the City of Bloomington, and how you can have a positive influence on the people in our community."
