(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus woman was arrested after she was accused of passing a school bus full of children on Jonesville Road that had extended its stop arm to let children off the bus.
Police say an officer was traveling south in the 700 block of Jonesville Road around 2:50 p.m. when a school bus full of children stopped in front of him.
The officer said the bus stop arm was extended and the bus lights were flashing red when a car disregarded the bus arm and continued north on Jonesville Road.
The officer pulled over the driver, 30-year-old Lyzette Berrios Torres, of Columbus. Torres was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license and reckless driving -- disregarding a bus stop arm.
Indiana State Police say more than 3,000 drivers disregarded school bus stop warnings daily.
