(WASHINGTON) - Two people were injured after a gas explosion at Eagle Railcar Services on Washington’s west side.
Rescue crews were notified to the incident at 1723 West Walnut Street at 9:28 a.m.
Fire Chief Dave Rhoads says employees were using a cutting torch to cut some nuts off of bolts on a car what had a substance inside that caused the explosion.
Two people received minor injuries and were taken by Southwest Medical Services to Daviess Community Hospital.
The explosion also left a hole in the roof of the building.
There will be an internal investigation through Eagle Railcar Services.
"They are still looking into why it really happened because it really shouldn't happen this way," says Chief Rhoads.
The Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Washington Police Department and Washington Fire Department assisted at the scene.
