(BLOOMINGTON) - Firefighters battled a house fire on West Arlington Road on Sunday night.
Firefighters from Northern Monroe Fire Territory and Ellettsville Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 3200 block of Arlington Road at 6:15 p.m.
According to police, a passer-by spotted fire coming from a window and called 911.
According to a news release, 20 firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from the roof and rear of the house.
Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire contained by accessing the attic and containing it there.
The house had heavy damage to the roof and smoke damage throughout. No one was injured.
The fire was caused by a debris pile of brush in the back of the yard that spread to the house.
The home was being rented, and the tenant was not home at the time of the fire.
Assisting at the scene was IU Health Ambulance Service and officers with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
