(SEYMOUR) - A fire destroyed a garage owned by Craig and Rita Schaefer on Saturday afternoon in the 7000 block of County Road 1000 East, northeast of Seymour.
Redding Township, Hamilton and Jackson-Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighters arrived at the scene just minutes after receiving the call at 2 p.m. that the building was engulfed in flames. Firefighters went into defensive mode preventing the fire from spreading to the Schaefer's home.
The home did have some heat damage causing the paint to bubble and siding to melt.
Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours.
Firefighters believe the fire started after an electrical issue in a light fixture, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The garage was filled with more than 50 neon signs, an RV and tools.
Assisting at the scene was Jackson County Emergency Medical Services.
