(BLOOMINGTON) - More than 1,100 degrees and certificates will be conferred during Ivy Tech commencement tonight at the Indiana University Auditorium.
The graduation ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
Honorary degrees will be presented to Doug Mattick, director of facilities, and James O. Smith, dean of the School of Business and the School of Public and Social Services.
Mattick reduced the budget needed to operate the Bloomington facility by more than $1.5 million over his 18 years of service, according to a news release from Ivy Tech.
Smith was instrumental in forming course transfer agreements with IU that led to statewide Ivy Tech course transfers to all Indiana colleges and universities. He also initiated one of Ivy Tech-Bloomington's first service-learning projects in the accounting program, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which continues to this day.
Victor Creed, a software development graduate and Student Government Association president, will give the commencement address.
Guests who plan to attend the event can park for free at the Atwater and Poplar garages. From there, they can either walk to the auditorium or catch a free shuttle bus beginning at about 4:30 p.m. Paid parking is available in the Indiana Memorial Union lots.
