(BEDFORD) - Trail Life USA Troop IN 1503, hosted out of Crossroads Church, is accepting young men 5-18 years old.
"Trail Life is a movement towards traditional scouting the way scouting was back when I was a young man... centering around God, country, raising young men and good sons, husbands," said Jeff Jones, Troop Leader.
Trail Life USA is a Christ-centered outdoor adventure, leadership, and character development ministry that meets twice a month and has one event per month camping, fishing, cookout, science activity or first aid.
"In our monthly meetings, we generally practice on what Boy Scouts would call merit badges, we call them pins. They're just traditional scouting skills. Everything from preparing them for camping, knot tying and life saving," said Jones.
Fees are minimal, just $20 a year per scout. No scout will be turned away from camping, fishing or other activities because they lack gear or can not afford the yearly dues.
Their motto, "Walk Worthy", comes from Colossians 1:10 in the Christian Bible; "... that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."
