(BEDFORD) - The number of hepatitis A cases in Lawrence County increased by one, according to a weekly report from the Indiana State Department of Health.
There are now 19 confirmed cases of hepatitis A in Lawrence County.
Officials says the cases are related to a large outbreak in Louisville, Kentucky.
So far, in Indiana there are 124 confirmed cases of hepatitis A. There have been no deaths reported related to these cases.
The highest number of cases are in Clark County with 52. Floyd County has 39 confirmed cases, followed by six cases in Harrison County, five cases in Washington County and fewer than five cases in Hendricks county.
To reduce your risk, always wash your hands with soap and warm water after going to the bathroom, after changing diapers and before preparing meals for yourself and others.
