(COLUMBUS) - The Bartholomew County commissioners are searching for a new leader to help connect veterans to their benefits.
This comes after the commissioners voted to fire Veteran Services Officer Tom Crawford earlier this week after numerous veterans from American Legion Post 24 voiced complaints about service.
It became so bad, the Commander of the Post, Alan Mckown no longer is directing veterans to go to the office for help.
The veterans' office, located in the Bartholomew County Government Office Building, is still open for veterans as three part-time workers are there to help.
The commissioner would like to hire a new veteran service officer in the next month.
