(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was injured after he was struck by a vehicle backing up at Walmart on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a Bedford Police report, 80-year-old Donnia Freeman of Bloomington was traveling south through the Walmart parking lot and when she got to the end of the row she turned left out into the lane near the entrance of the store. Freeman began backing up her 2001 Mercury Sable LS in an attempt to turn around to go back down the row when she saw a parking spot on the other side. Freeman told police when she began backing up and then she heard a thump and realized she had struck a pedestrian.
Freeman told police she looked behind her vehicle before backing up but didn't see anyone.
Herschell Keithley told police he was walking south to enter Walmart when a car backed into him, causing him to fall to the ground.
Keithley complained of pain to his back, left arm and right leg. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
