(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Department of Transportation officials say the end is in sight for the construction in Section 5 along State Road 37 between Martinsville and Bloomington.
INDOT officials say construction should be completed by the end of August. Crews will be working around the clock, seven days a week to complete the project.
"When the state took over the project last August, we looked at every possible way to accelerate and get to that finish date as quickly as possible" says INDOT public affairs manager Andy Dietrick.
Dietrick says over the next few months, drivers can expect to see various changing road conditions and traffic patterns..
"Motorists need to slow down and be very aware in this very active construction zone. The end is near, but there is still a lot of work to done," Dietrick added.
Section six, the next phase of the project will extend along the State Road 37 route from Martinsville to I-465. Construction on section six is expected to begin in 2020 and be completed in 2027.
