(BLOOMINGTON) - The Sample Road interchange is anticipated to open to traffic at or around 4 p.m. on Friday, June 8.
Three of the four ramps in the system will be available to motorists: the southbound State Road 37 on and off ramps, and the off ramp from northbound State Road 37 to Sample Road. The ramp from Sample Road to northbound State Road 37 is anticipated to open in mid-July.
Until that time, motorists will continue to use the Sample East detour for access to northbound State Road 37. This access point is a right turn to northbound State Road 37 only. The median crossing that had allowed left turns from southbound State Road 37 will be removed.
Sample Road is I-69 exit #125, and new signage directing motorists to local businesses will be placed before the exits and in and around the Sample Road roundabouts.
In conjunction with the opening of the Sample Road interchange, direct access to State Road 37 from Lee Paul Road will be eliminated.
Residents and businesses on the west side of the highway can reach the interchange via new access roads and Simpson Chapel Road. Residents and businesses on the east side of the highway can reach the interchange via Wayport Road and using the Sample/Wayport roundabout.
All construction activity is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
