(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University Health Foundation announced the addition of Stephen G. Moore, MD to the
organization’s Board of Directors.
The selection of Moore is reflective of the organization's continued efforts to improve the health of individuals, the community and the state of Indiana by fostering strong partnerships with community leaders.
Stephen G. Moore, MD
Moore, an Indiana native and IU School of Medicine alum, has served as president and CEO of CarDon & Associates for 18 years. Moore received his medical training from Mayo Clinic in internal medicine and from Johns Hopkins in preventive medicine.
"There is no doubt that Steve Moore has a strong commitment to the city of Bloomington. His work through CarDon and his philanthropy in the community prove just that. The board is confident that Moore's deep roots in the city and his insight as a public health leader will make him a strong advocate for the foundation's local efforts and priorities in the south central region as well as help us achieve our goal of making Indiana one of the healthiest states," says IU Health South Central Region Board Director Dan Peterson.
Through CarDon & Associates, based in Bloomington, Moore has provided industry leadership by developing and managing 21 communities for seniors throughout the state. These communities offer skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, long term care, memory care, assisted living, senior housing apartments and garden homes.
Moore and his wife, Julia, are the founding donor members of the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, an academic research center located within the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The Moores, along with the center, are dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse through research to determine best-practice approaches.
"Steve's strong ties to Indiana and Indiana University, along with his passion for philanthropy and advocacy, ensure that he will be a valuable asset to the board and essential to fulfilling our mission of local gifts staying local and creating a margin of excellence with the new Regional Academic Health Center," says IU Health Bloomington Hospital Interim President and COO Brian Shockney.
Members of the board serve to increase public awareness, promote the interests and advance the priorities of IU Health by positioning IU Health as a healthcare change agent, ensuring philanthropic gifts are well managed and benefit community members.
As a board director, Moore will assist in championing and governing the south central region's efforts to improve the health of its Hoosiers through philanthropy.
