(BLOOMFIELD) - Multiple sources have confirmed Bloomfield High School basketball coach Jamie Hudson has resigned.
The Greene County Daily News reports that Coach Hudson's departure comes after just two seasons at the Bloomfield helm. During his tenure he guided the Cardinals to a 27-24 record including the Class A Sectional 57 championship last March. It was Hudson's first sectional title in his 13-year coaching career. Bloomfield finished 16-10 this past season.
"I would like to thank the Bloomfield community for their support over the last two seasons," the departing coach stated. "This community has a lot of young men of high character and I wish the program nothing but success in the future."
Hudson's overall record is 157-142 with stints at Vincennes Rivet (two seasons) and Bedford North Lawrence (nine).
Bloomfield School District Superintendent Jeff Gibboney issued a statement saying Coach Hudson submitted his resignation on Thursday evening and had no further comment.
BHS Principal David Dean says they are currently in the process of filling the position.
Hudson has not said if he is pursuing another coaching opportunity.
Hudson, a 1995 Eastern Greene graduate was hired in early August 2016 to replace Matt Britton. Britton stepped down that June after leading the Cardinals to the 2016 Class A State Finals.
Hudson was just the fifth head basketball coach Bloomfield has had since the retirement of Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame coach Guy Glover at the conclusion of the 1976-77 season.
Steve Brett - another Hall of Famer - succeeded Glover, followed by Ron McBride, John Bucher and Britton in succession prior to Hudson's arrival.
