(BLOOMINGTON) - At 2:46 a.m. officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded to the 2400 block of West 3rd Street after receiving a 911 call reporting a fight in progress and a male lying on the ground.
Bloomington Police Captain Steven Kellams says that when officers arrived they found a Hispanic male in his 20s had suffered multiple stab wounds.
The male was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officers later located a second victim, also a Hispanic male in his 20's, in the 500 block of Basswood Drive.
This second victim was also suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to Capt. Steven Kellams. He was transported to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital in critical condition. He was uncooperative with investigators.
Based on the preliminary investigation it appears that the victims along with several other Hispanic males were in the 2500 block of West 3rd Street where the fight originated. Investigators believe that the victims and the suspects knew each other.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Bloomington Police Department at 812-339-4477.
