(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University alumni elected Donna B. Spears, of Richmond, to the IU Board of Trustees.

Out of 13,710 votes cast, Spears received 4,151, according to the news release.
Spears eared an Associate of Science in dental hygiene, 1978; Bachelor of Science, 1979; and Master of Public Administration, 1981.
"Serving as your next Alumni representative on the Indiana Board of Trustees will enable me to use the expertise I have acquired in the private sector and the passion I have honed through nearly three decades of service to our alma mater. I am enthusiastically prepared to serve Indiana University as we approach the next century of service," Spears says.
Spears served as National Chair of the Indiana University Alumni Association's Board of Managers, two terms on the IUAA Executive Council Board of Managers, and is a member of the IUAA Executive Council. She is a life member of IUAA and a founding member of the Women's Philanthropy Leadership Council. In 2017, she served as Co-chair of the Colloquium for the Women of Indiana University and become Chair in 2019. In recognition of her exemplary service, she was awarded the Alumni Association's Gertrude Rich Award in 2006 and the Indiana University East Chancellor's Medallion in 2016.
