Farm Olympics at Lawrence County Fair

Last updated on Friday, July 20, 2018

(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - The Lawrence County Fair offered Farm Olympics to teams willing to take on the challenge.

Teams of four completed a relay race filled with farm obstacles.

The first team member ran from the "barn door" to put on his farmer flannel, gloves and hat. Once he was dressed for the job, he ran back to the barn door and released the next team mate.

The second obstacle was to "water the hogs" where participants carried a 5 gallon water bucket to the trauff and sprinted back to send his next teammate to obstacle three.

Obstacle three had participants running to "gather fresh eggs" and make it back without breaking any eggs.

The next team member had to fix a mechanical problem on the farm and create a triangle by connected three metal pieces with bolts and nuts.

As soon as that team mate returned to the barn door, the next ran out to feed the cows as they threw feed over a fence.

Next, two team members were released to the wheel barrel. One person ran to the barrel and rolled another a short distance across the obstacle field.

And finally, all four team members rolled a hay bale all the way down the length of the track.

The team pictured named themselves the "Greasers" and finished with a time of 00:04:15. Their team consisted of Josie Lafever, Luke Lafever, Tom Symcox and Trey Speer.

"We were shooting for three minutes, but Trey, here, was jogging," Tom joked.
