(BLOOMINGTON) - In one of the richest countries on earth, having a new baby, a seriously ill child, or a dying parent shouldn’t mean facing a terrible choice between keeping a roof over your head and being there for family during life’s most critical moments.
Yet for far too many Hoosiers, lack of paid leave makes choices like these a reality. In Indiana, only 15 percent of employees have paid family leave through their employer. It's time for change.
The Indiana Institute for Working Families be in Bloomington at the City Council Chambers on August 28, 5:30-8:30 p.m. All those that attend will screen Zero Weeks, an award-winning feature-length documentary that weaves together family stories with the perspectives of business leaders, policymakers, and community advocates.
Following the film, they will open the mic to audience members. There will be an opportunity to share your perspective with invited policymakers and community members.
Register here to attend the screening.
Registration is free.
