(BEDFORD) - There’s just 11 weeks to get ready for the Limestone Capital Half Marathon, 5k and 1 Mile Fitness Walk taking place October, 6th 2018.
"We are super stoked for this year's Limestone Capital Half Marathon," said Bedford Park Director and Limestone Capital Half Marathon Director, Barry Jeskewich.
The race will start and finish on the Bedford downtown square and includes a challenging course that only southern Indiana can offer. The half marathon will start at 8 a.m. while the 5K and 1 Mile Fitness walk will begin at 8:05 a.m
Like last year, there will be a special packet pick up event the night before the race, but it will be a little different this year.
"Given the overwhelming success of last year's events, new changes have been implemented this year. An important and exciting part for race participants is the packet pick up expo sponsored by German American Bank the day before the race events. On Friday, October 5 when participants come to Harp Commons to pick up the registration bibs and goodie bag, they will have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends participating in interactive games; much like a Minute to Win it type of theme," said Jeskewich.

Participants can look forward to commemorative participant shirts and medals for all three events.
"There are some fun changes to this year's metal that we're excited about unveiling in the near future," said Jeskewich.
There will be a cash purse awarded in the half marathon with a special bonus being paid to the top finishing male and female from Lawrence County. The first male and female to cross the finish line will receive $300. The second male and female will receive $200 and the third male and female will take $100. The first male and female from Lawrence County to cross the finish line will be awarded $300.
There will also be age group awards presented.
The Limestone Capital Half Marathon is officially certified by the USA Track and Field.
Last year, Micheal Eaton, from Louisville, won the Limestone Capital Half Marathon for his third time with a time of 1:07:38.82 and Angi Mook from Terre Haute was the first place finisher in the women's division with a finishing time of 1:33:42.36.

Last year Mook described the course as a good strengthening run.
"Because of the positive feedback last year, the course for all three events remains the same," said Jeskewich.
A portion of the proceeds directly benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County.
