(OOLITIC) - The Salt Creek Festival has a great lineup of events for the whole family and will bring back frightening Haunted Trail favorites to the character lineup.
"A few of our favorite characters, including the Nun, will be back for this year's haunted trial... she's pretty terrifying," said Salt Creek Festival Board Member, Heather Machida.
The Haunted Trail that includes a new corn maze section will also have the familiar "Hill Billy guys" in the line up.
The Haunted Trial will be open starting the last two weekends in September and all four weekends in October for $10 a person.
Each day the Haunted Trail is open, the first couple of hours will be appropriate for young ones. Parents and their little ones will be able to go through for $5. The youngsters will have the option to take a Nerf gun with them for a "zombie shoot out" while on the trail.
The Salt Creek Festival will be October 4th -6th at the Salt Creek Flea Market. Each night there will be carnival rides, a vendor fair and great food.
That Thursday, October 4th, along with the Haunted Trail, kids can enjoy hay rides, a kids costume contest and Trunk or Treat.
The Salt Creek Festival Pageant Queen will be crowned on the 4th.
Then on Friday night, the first ever Halloween Dance Party will take place. Costumes should be appropriate for family fun and the festival board reserves the right to ask those deemed inappropriate to leave.
There will be a costume contest for adults and teens on Friday night. Awards will be given in the following categories: Besy Costume, Scariest Costume and Best Group or Couple Costume.
Friday night will also have the Fall Favorites pie contest.
The Salt Creek Festival welcomes two musical acts to the line up of events Saturday night. Linda Smith and Daisy and Dirt will take the stage.
Also on Saturday, there will be Pumpkin Contests for the whole family and a Fall Baby Contest.
Those interested in volunteering at the Haunted Trail can attend the volunteer meeting held on August 11th starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Salt Creek Flea Market. Machida said volunteers can bring their ideas about what they would like to do at the Haunted Trails. All ideas must be approved the the Salt Creek Festival Board.
