(SEYMOUR) - A 27-year-old Seymour man was flown to Indianapolis after he was hit by a train in Seymour late Thursday night.

According to police at 10:34 p.m. police were called to the n the 100 block of East Tipton Street on the east-west CSX track that separates the new Crossroads Community Park and Circle Street near CVS Pharmacy.
The park has a stretch of landscape fencing and more than a dozen trees as a barrier in the area where Champ crossed. He was hit near the track close to where the black fencing ends, Abbott says. Crossroads Community Park hosted Seymour CityJam, there earlier in the evening. The show ended around 8:15 p.m.
Champ was transported to Schneck Medical Center and later flown to IU Methodist in Indianapolis.
Police say the train's horn sounded multiple times and the lights at the Tipton Street intersection were flashing when Champ was struck by the train.
Witnesses told police Champ walked in front of the train, bounced off and didn't get sucked under the train.
The train was able to get stopped for about 15 minutes after Champ was struck.
