(JOHNSON & MORGAN CO.) - Indiana Department of Transportation officials advise motorists to be aware of upcoming lane restrictions at State Road 37’s twin bridges crossing Bluff Creek just south of State Road 44 in Johnson County. Subcontracted traffic control operations could place barricades before the week’s end—but more likely, lane closures will begin early next week.
Weddle Brothers, INDOT's prime contractor, plans to begin work at the 3-span 80-foot-long structures next week when crews start applying 3/8-inch polymeric epoxy bridge deck overlays. Motorists on State Road 37 will be restricted to a single lane in either direction while the wear-course material is installed.
The state's contract allows 14 days for single-lane restrictions.
State Road 37's southbound bridge has a traffic count of 11,650 vehicles per day; the northbound bridge's traffic count is 12,210 vehicles per day.
State Road 67/Lambs Creek & State Road 39/White River
Delayed by rain, bridge deck overlays in Morgan County on State Road 67 at Lambs Creek and on State Road 39 at White River should be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting.
The State Road 67 Lambs Creek bridge is a 159-foot-long structure located 1.5 miles southwest of State Road 39 near Bradford Woods. The State Road 39 White River bridge is a 1,074-foot-long structure located just south of State Road 67 approaching Martinsville.
All work is part of a 6-bridge $548,548 project contracted by the Indiana Department of Transportation for installing 3/8-inch polymeric epoxy overlays on structures in Brown, Johnson, Morgan and Monroe Counties. These overlays extend service life of the bridges.
