(BARTHOLOMEW & BROWN COUNTIES) - The Indiana Department of Transportation shifted traffic today to outside lanes on State Road 46 west of Columbus at Tipton Lakes Boulevard while contracted crews replace pavement at the middle of the highway.
This traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately two weeks.
Milestone, INDOT's contractor for this $4.3 million resurfacing project between Columbus and Nashville, will begin paving operations tomorrow in the westbound lane of State Road 46 near C.R. 300 West in Bartholomew County.
Surface placement of HMA asphalt is trailing the milling crew by several days. These activities turn around just before State Road 135 in Nashville for milling and paving in the eastbound lane.
Motorists are being directed around moving worksites by flaggers.
State Road 46's traffic count between I-65 and S.R. 135 is 9,070 vehicles per day.
