(WASHINGTON CO.) - Indiana State Police removed a vehicle from a lake in Washington County Sunday afternoon after the driver lost control of the vehicle on Eastern School Road Sunday afternoon.
According to a Washington County Sheriff's Department, Isaiah Kay was traveling south in the 4690 block of Eastern School Road when he crested a hill and his vehicle was slightly in the center of the roadway.
Isaiah told deputies he met another vehicle traveling north and swerved to the right to avoid a collision with the other vehicle.
He told police he almost went off the roadway before he swerved back to the left.
Police say Kay overcorrected causing his car to leave the roadway on the east side of the road. After leaving the roadway, the car struck a fence causing mechanical failure to the steering of his vehicle.
The car continued down a hill and into a lake. Kay, who was not injured, was able to exit his vehicle before it sank.
Members of the Indiana State Police Dive Team were called to the scene to assist with the removal of the vehicle.
Deputy Tory Hildreth is investigating the crash.
