(WASHINGTON) - Congratulations to Washington High School senior Erik Hunter.
The Washington Times Herald reports Hunter was elected national vice president of BETA an organization that promotes academic achievement, character and leadership.
The Washington BETA chapter is one of the oldest in the state and Indiana is one of the oldest conventions in the nation but Indiana is very small compared to the other states involved in the organization and that has limited the number of times Indiana candidates have been able to successfully win the state offices
Hunter received special recognition from US Senator Joe Donnelly that was presented at the Washington School board meeting.
Hunter is the first Washington High School student to hold the national office.
Now, Hunter will spend the coming school year working with other students as part of the national leadership for the organization.
