BBB Warns Of Social Security Telephone Scams
Last updated on Thursday, August 16, 2018
(UNDATED) - The Tri-State Better Business Bureau says it’s received multiple phone calls regarding Social Security telephone scams in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
The BBB has these tips for you:
- Report all potential scams to bbb.org/scamtracker so the Better Business Bureau can track and report scams to the public as well as appropriate government and law enforcement agencies.
- Never give personal information over the phone.
- If you receive a phone call and you are not sure it is a scam, hang up the phone and call the Social Security Association back to make sure you're on the line with the real deal.
- And, never trust callers who use threats of arrest and/or hostility to bully you into doing what they want.
