(BLOOMINGTON) - This morning access from Burma Road to State Road 37 was eliminated. The original notice of closure was in a July 16 notification indicating that Burma access would be closed on or after July 21.
For motorists using Burma Road, access to both northbound and southbound State Road 37 will be via the west side access road to Simpson Chapel Road to the Sample Road interchange.
The west side access road south of the Burma Road tie-in is still under construction, and a 400' segment of northbound Burma Road remains gravel. This is a temporary condition and the short section of gravel roadway is safe for motorists to use.
As this is still an active work zone, flaggers will be used to assist motorists when crews are on site completing fill and drainage operations. This final section of Burma Road will be paved when paving operations on mainline State Road 37 are complete.
