(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington’s Fast Forward Bloomington series continues Monday, August 27 with a program co-sponsored by the Monroe County Public Library. The ongoing series examines the impact of cutting edge technology on the city.
The series' next program, "The Future of Virtual Reality," features a talk by Peter Rubin, Senior Editor at WIRED and author of Future Presence: How Virtual Reality is Changing Human Connection, Intimacy, and the Limits of Ordinary Life (Harper Collins, 2018). After Rubin's talk, Mayor John Hamilton will moderate a panel showcasing Rubin alongside local VR experts, as they discuss the cultural implications of virtual reality (VR) and answer audience questions.
"Bloomington is full of creative folks who are exploring the ways that technology can inform and improve our daily lives," said Hamilton. "This series is designed to examine the possibilities and inspire innovation."
The program will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Monroe County Public Library (303 E. Kirkwood) Auditorium. Participants can try out VR demonstrations outside the library auditorium both before and after the program.
