(BLOOMINGTON) - One man is dead after he exited a mobile home and confronted police officers with a handgun.
According to Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain, deputies went to the home in the 5900 block of Tower Road to serve an arrest warrant around 9:15 a.m.
Police also suspected that there was meth activity at the home.
When police approached the home, a man, who police have yet to identify, exited the home with a handgun and pointed it at the deputies. The deputies, who feared the man was going to open fire, shot him.
Sheriff Swain says the deputies performed CPR until an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew arrived and transported the man to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he later died.
At the home, officers requested the assistance of Indiana State Police and the Bloomington CIRT armored vehicle, to help assist clear the home.
Police detained several individuals and they were transported to the Sheriff's Department for questioning.
The case remains under investigation.
Sheriff Swain will hold a press conference at 1 p.m. today.
