(PAOLI) - Orange County Historical Society (OCHS) members are finalizing plans for a new event “An Autumn Homecoming” to be held on Sunday, September 30th at the historic Thomas Elwood Lindley House.
Planned events which will run from 2 to 4 p.m. include a variety of heritage type activities, cider making, blacksmith demonstration, apple butter tasting, house tours, and special musical entertainment with the popular musical group, "The Left Field String Band."
The house is located just off the Hwy. 150 West on Willow Creek Rd. in Paoli
Chris Jones will be selling his Orange County Courthouse prints. A representative with the Hoosier Natural Forest will present a special exhibit on Historic Lick Creek that afternoon as well.
The event will be FREE; however, donations will be accepted to help with the preservation and upkeep of the historic farm home.
The Society's new 2018 Ornament with a vintage holiday image of the Lindley House will also be on sale during the event. The ornaments will sell for $10 with proceeds benefitting the Lindley House upkeep.
The Society will also be holding a brief tree planting ceremony that day at the home site in memory of the late Mid Hoke who included the OCHS in her estate. Monies from the Hoke estate still benefit both the Museum and Lindley House today.
The Society is still seeking local or area craftsmen, artists, historians, and skill demonstrations to set up in and around the historic front lawn area on that Sunday to demonstrate and sell their wares. Persons or groups interested in participating should contact President Robert Henderson (812) 653-1212; email rfh2@netsurfusa.net
