BNL Homecoming Royalty Crowned

(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence crowned homecoming royalty Friday night.

Jorie Allen was crowned homecoming queen with Nate Porter crowned homecoming king.

The Stars held the Seymour Owls scoreless in the fourth quarter to earn a 27-19 Hoosier Hills Conference win on Friday night.

At the end of the first quarter, the teams were tied at 7.

The Owls ate up almost half of the second quarter on their first drive of the period.

The Stars answered with a six-play, 65-yard touchdown drive.

After completing a 15-yard pass, McCall Ray hit Skyler Bates for a 47-yard bomb down the field.

BNL then used runs of 13 and 2 yards to get to the Owls' 1. On the goal line, Wyatt Martin punched it in for the score for the Stars.

With 4:13 left in the second quarter, the Owls trailed the Stars 14-13.

BNL capitalized on three major Seymour penalties on its opening scoring drive of the second half.

The Stars drove 41 yards before an Owls offsides on third-and-7 put BNL on Seymour's 7. A pass interference was called on the next play, setting up a 1-yard TD run by Martin with 8:43 on the clock.

The Stars took the ball into the fourth quarter up one.

Ethan Baer's PAT kick gave the Stars a 27-19 lead.

The Owls were able to drive for the next five minutes, getting to the Stars' 38, before a key fouth-and-4 play. Seymour wouldn't get the ball again the remainder of the game, as the Stars were able to run out the clock on seven plays.
