(NASHVILLE) - Brown County’s changing leaves mean a big boost to the local economy. But some are blaming the county’s population decline on too many homes being offered to tourists.
The Brown County Planning Commission is discussing limiting the number of tourist lodging homes to allow the creation of affordable housing.
Planning Director Christine Ritzmann doubts that limiting tourist homes will result in a younger population in Brown County due to their value, saying $250,000 is not really the price point that a new young family would be able to afford in Brown County.
The Planning Commission's next work session is scheduled for Sept. 25.
