(WASHINGTON) - The Washington City Council is taking steps to reduce the number of run-down rental trailers outside mobile home parks within the city limits.
Mayor Joe Wellman says there are between 200 and 300 rental mobile homes in the city, outside of trailer parks. Under a proposed ordinance, after the first of the year, when a rented mobile home becomes vacant, the owner must have the mobile home inspected by the Building Commissioner's Office before being certified for occupancy.
The amendment only applies to rental mobile homes outside established mobile home parks.
The ordinance will be up for a final vote at the next Council meeting.
