(CRANE) - The Crane Flexible Manufacturing Complex, formerly known as Rockeye, is undergoing renovations as part of the Army’s modernization strategy to upgrade existing workplaces and increase efficiency.
When complete, the $30 million upgrades will allow production lines and projects to flow continuously through buildings, improving the production rate and better supporting the Army's overall readiness and mission requirements.
The current project is the M1122 artillery round, which takes old conventional munition rounds and reuses the shells to create low-cost training projectiles for the Army.
Production operations at CFMC will be fully functional and operational by Fiscal Year 2019.
Crane Army Ammunition Activity receives, stores, ships, produces, renovates and demilitarizes conventional ammunition, missiles and related components to meet contingency requirements in support of Joint Force readiness.
