(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested a man on Friday after he led police on a chase through city streets.
The incident began when officers stopped to assist a stranded motorist at First and Walnut streets.
While assisting the motorist, the officer noticed a domestic battery situation taking place inside a vehicle. As the officer approached the vehicle it sped off. The officer followed in pursuit. At one point the vehicle slowed at West Third Street and a 29-year-old woman got out.
The officer continued to follow the vehicle until the driver crashed in a yard near North Summit and West 10th streets.
The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended.
Police arrested 19-year-old Tayler Grubb on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, kidnapping, resisting law enforcement, auto theft, reckless driving, criminal confinement, driving without a license and on a warrant for failure to appear. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $10,500 bond.
