(BARTHOLOMEW & JACKSON COUNTIES) - The Indiana Department of Transportation will close northbound Interstate 65’s left lane next week during overnight hours between mile markers 57.5 and 62,0 as part of the state’s $143 million Next Level Roads project between Seymour and Columbus.
Concrete trucks will utilize the northbound left lane to supply paving materials to crews on the other side of the barrier wall between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday (SEPT 10-15). Rain and extended forecasts for inclement weather render the construction road in I-65's median area unusable for jumbo mixer trucks.
During these nighttime hours, northbound I-65's right lane will remain open to motorists.
Closed left-lane segments will be approximately two miles in length.
Meanwhile, single-lane closures impacting both northbound and southbound I-65 traffic will continue for several more weekends to make space for crews to install the bridge deck overlay and pour pavement approaches at Denois Creek near mile marker 65.5. These restrictions begin at 6 p.m. on Fridays and continue through noon on Sundays.
E & B Paving is Indiana's prime contractor for this 3-year added-travel lanes project which includes full-depth construction of a 6-lane roadway between U.S. Highway 50 and State Road 58 and resurfacing the existing 4-lane section between S.R. 58 and State Road 46.
