(LINTON) - Indiana Conservation officers, Union Township Fire Department, and Linton Fire Department responded to a report of a car swept off of the roadway by floodwaters on Saturday.
When rescue crews arrived around 8:14 p.m. they found 44-year-old Eric Blevens on top of his 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier in several feet of water.
Blevins had attempted to drive on County Road 1450 West, northeast of Wampler Lake, in Greene County which was covered by floodwaters.
Several firemen and a Conservation officer were able to reach the car through the waist-deep moving water to reach Blevens. Firemen also pushed a small boat out to Blevens to aid in getting him back to safety.
Blevens was treated and released at the scene.
Emergency crews warn motorists to - turn around don't drown - when approaching floodwaters on the roadway, find another route. It only takes a few inches of fast moving water to sweep a vehicle off the road.
