(PARAGON) - Three people died and two children were injured in a one-vehicle accident on County Line Road at the Morgan-Owen county line.
A resident reported the accident shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday.
Police say 28-year-old Brett Bundy, 27-year-old Jami Kinsler, and 25-year-old Cassedy Brown, all from Cloverdale died at the scene. Two of the three adults were thrown from the vehicle.
The children, ages 4 and 8, were flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis for treatment.
Paragon Police officers along with Paragon Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene but had trouble locating the vehicle.
Morgan County Sheriff Robert Downey says the Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on County Line Road and went through the T-intersection near Baseline Pike and Turkey Neck.
The driver failed to negotiate the curve, traveled straight, and went airborne through several trees, plunging over a small cliff and dropped around 200 feet to the bottom of the ravine before coming to a stop against some trees along Butler's Creek.
Witnesses noticed the car speeding just moments prior to the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Morgan County Emergency Medical Service, Martinsville Fire Department, Ashland and Adams Fire Department, Gosport Fire Department, Owen County Emergency Medical Service, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Curtis Garage.
